First and foremost, I believe, you start with research. Besides the desire to learn how to make a web page, you must have a mission to educate yourself to learn the basics. There are many options available to you on the internet. Be careful and choose your plan of attack wisely. Many people choose to have a site created for them. Obviously that works well but I have enjoyed learning the different aspects of web page making. It has given me a tremendous feel of satisfaction that at this point in my life, I have learned to build my own website.

* Keywords

These are single words or a group of words that describe what you are searching for on the internet. Keywords are hugely important to your website and if at all possible, should be in your chosen domain name. Keywords are what people type into a search engine, such as google, to bring up a site of interest to them. Many times they are looking for an answer to a question they have. Keywords are used to find sites, people, places of business or anything else you can think of. You will want to use relevant keywords that will point to your web site in the search engines. Targeting keywords can be an important factor when you create a website.

* Domain Names

A domain name is a name given to a website. In other words, it is the name typed into a computer when you want to visit a site. Domain names identify your site. On average, they are usually under $10 to purchase. That will be a yearly fee in order to keep the name. Once you have taken the step to purchase a domain name, the next step would be to find a web page host.

* Hosting Company

All websites are hosted somewhere. That is what connects us to the World Wide Web. There are many hosting companies and most often when you purchase a domain name, you will also be able to host your domain name with that same company. It is not mandatory to stay with the company that you have purchased your domain name with. In fact, I would suggest that you take the time to check out many web providers. The average monthly fee to host your site is around $10. Free internet hosting is available if you search for it. When you finally make your hosting choice, you will get an email from the hosting company with important information that you will need to access your account.

These are the three areas you will need to research in order to make a website. Once you make these decisions, you will be on your way to actually building your website. You will then have design choices to make. Being a creative person will help. If you are not creative, don't despair. There are many avenues available when choosing images, banners and templates for your site. That will be another topic to discuss in the future.
